The razor focus that drives your impact

Clarity of Purpose

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. I will fight for justice, even if it costs me my life.”

– Dr. Martin Luther King

Dr. Martin Luther King lived a life with a clear purpose that shaped every decision he made. His unwavering life razor was rooted in faith, moral conviction and an unshakeable commitment to equality.

He was focused on sparking transformational change through nonviolence, courage, and sacrifice.

· Justice isn’t optional – it’s a moral obligation

· Faith demands action, not just belief

· True leadership means standing firm, even at great personal cost

“I’ve been to the mountaintop. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight that we, as a people, will get to the Promise Land!”

– Dr. Martin Luther King

Razor: I will fight for justice through love & nonviolence, even if it costs me my life.

Insight: A clear life razor acts as a guiding force and ensures every action aligns with a deeper purpose.

Your Razor = Your North Star

Just like MLK’s unwavering commitment to justice shaped his words and actions. Your razor is your north star and what you reference when making decisions, not just to achieve your goals, but to align every action with your core identity as a person and leader.

When I started defining my life razor, I asked myself:

Am I the type of person who gets up early and does hard things? Yes.

Am I the type of person who prioritizes family and meaningful relationships? Yes.

Am I focused on growth, service and impact? Absolutely.

I wanted something deeper - something that transcended my habits and anchored me in who I am at my core.

I landed on an identity-based razor:

I am the type of person who seeks wisdom and clarity in the Bible every day.

This single principle creates positive ripples across every area of my life – guiding my work, relationships, and choices. When faced with a decision, I ask:

Is this what someone who seeks wisdom and clarity in the Bible every day would do?

The question clarifies and calibrates my thoughts, feelings and actions. It ensures that every choice I make is aligned with the best version of myself the one I’m striving to become every day.

“Make the most important thing the most important thing”

– Stephen R. Covey

What’s your razor?

How would you characterize your values and purpose? Identify them and start running every decision through this filter.

Try it for a week and see how much clarity and focus it brings to your life and leadership.
